SOMETIMES it’s just nice to have someone else cook for you, be waited on!
MANCHESTER XMAS MARKETS – Albert Sq [and surrounding streets]
17th Nov – 21st Dec:
Food Quality: 3 out of 5 – Celebrate the starchy goodness that is street food, especially here. It’s not every day you can buy a currywurst from a man in a pointy felt hat and braces.
Service: 4 out of 5 – You’ve got to be prepared for how busy it can get. Don’t expect impeccable service – but every stall is full of character with happy faces bracing the open air.
Ambience: 4 out of 5: Yes it’s claustrophobic, but have a hot cup of gluhwein and get into the swing of it. Visiting these markets is a seasonal affair and it’s all about the busy atmosphere when you visit.
KRO – Piccadilly [Manchester] 27/08/11:
Beer battered fish finger sandwich and nachos. Keeping things relatively simple and to the point, as sometimes it can be the listening and the chatter that is important.
Food Quality: 3 out of 5 – It’s good pub food with a Danish twist, not spectacular but a definitely decent bite to eat with a pint to wash it down.
Service: 4 out of 5 – It can get busy, but they do their best to serve you – even if they’re not ready yet and you’re there early for a breakfast and coffee.
Ambience: Lovely and spacious, flooded with light and a great meeting place just of Piccadilly Gardens.
